Update on Charleton

Life has been a little crazy and wonderful since our little boy arrived.  I thought I would update everyone on the progress that Charlie is making.  On the 15th he got put on the respirator because his breathing was sporadic and he was having to work too hard.  He only had to be on for about 15 hours and after that he did much better.  He also had a high bilirubin so they also put him under the lights. He looks so cool in his sunglasses.  The top picture is Jon’s perspective, the bottom is mine from the wheelchair.  I think that he looks a lot like Henry here, just because this is what Henry was hooked up to as well.  IMG_6685

We weren’t able to hold him that day because of everything he was on so we watched.  Jon wanted to get the overall feeling of the room.

The 16th was much, much better! He got off the respirator, and the lights.  All he had left on was his IV and his feeding tube! It was so fun to hold him and see more of his face.  IMG_6710bw

We think that we have spotted some dimples under the tape. He is such a cutie and we have loved being with him.

He is not a fan of the flash on the camera.  I love the little grimace on his face.

The 17th he got his IV put in his head-sad.  He also got to wear his first big boy clothes.  He looked so old all dressed.

The doctor told me a few days after Charlie was born that he had the cord wrapped around his neck three times and around his arm.  I asked about the bruising on his face-you can see it a little in this picture, but the poor kid had big bruises all over his face and back behind his ear.

Charlie lost only about 7 oz-he got down to 5lbs, which is really normal.  He is now up to his birth weight 5lbs 7ozIMG_6777

We have just been able to hold and enjoy him everyday.  He is doing so great and getting stronger and stronger.  IMG_6785bw

Sweet little hands and feet.

Yeah he moved to a big boy bed!  I love the way their body moves when they aren’t wrapped up tight.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa A. for the cute outfit!IMG_6807

We only have a few pictures of him with his eyes open.  He looks a little nervous here.  IMG_6803

I FINALLY got to play dress up with him and try on some of the hats that I made.  Most are too big, but they will fit soon enough!

Gangsta style.

Top of the morning to you.  This picture makes me laugh-his face is so fat and squishy.

He looks SOO much like Emma in this picture.  It makes me want to put a bow in his hair.  Don’t worry Jon, I won’t!  Charlie is doing amazing now.  The nurses say that it will still be a few weeks until he can take all his feedings and be able to come home.  We are boarding at the hospital right now for free, but will be heading home when the kids come home from visiting Grandma and Grandpa A. in Idaho this weekend.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concern and all the amazing family who have watched our kids. We love you and can’t wait for you to meet Charlie!

Yeah, a typical Anderson cutie-pie. It's good to see him in your arms and away from so many cords. You're always in our prayers!
