Sick, Sick, Sick

Well it happened way sooner than I would have liked, but we all got sick.  Henry and Emma were already sick when we came home from the hospital-I couldn’t keep them away from Charlie they were so excited to meet him.  I got sick a few days later, then it moved on to Charlie.  We took him into the Dr. on May 6th and he had an infection in his lungs (start of RSV) and his Oxygen saturation was low.  So…we had a choice of admitting him to the hospital, or doing oxygen and monitors and the nebulizer at home.  We opted for the home option since we had some experience with Henry being on oxygen at home for a month when he was born.

It made me very sad to have to do the oxygen and monitors since I knew what was coming..sleepless nights with the alarm going off every 15 minutes, watching him and the monitor hoping that the level would go up and his color return, cords everywhere, being stuck in a room because it was too hard to carry all the equipment around, only wearing certain clothes so the wires could poke out…but he is done now, so we are happy!

IMG_7442He was on oxygen for a week and a half, and we did the nebulizer treatments every four hours for a few days-Henry and Emma were very interested in that since it looked like smoke came out of it.

He didn’t seem to mind as much as we did.  IMG_7539bw

Most of the time that is…

We couldn’t get over how much he looked like Henry when he was on oxygen.  We found ourselves calling him Henry more than usual.

Oh wow - he is super cute! I need to come over and hold him for a while. Now that we are healthy I think we need to see that little guy and get to know him better. I'm so glad he is off the oxygen and doing well. I wish all of you could get over the sickness. I know how frustrating it is to be constantly wiping runny noses!

You guys are so tough - you just handle everything that comes your way. I'm so glad you're done with that long week and that everyone is on the mend
