We drove to a place called Many Glaciers and took a boat tour. So awesome-very windy again and a little cold-but so awesome. This hotel is right on the lake and they say that in the winter the snow reaches the roof. Only one person lives here in the winter by himself in a little cabin a bit higher- kind of scary. So beautiful right now though.
It felt a bit like we were in a different country.
It got so stormy before our tour, that we didn't think that we would be able to go, but apparently the lake is only like 10 feet deep or something, so if we sunk we could just hang out on top of the boat.
Emma about to be blown away!
Heading away from dock. Henry LOVED looking out the window and riding on the "slow boat." He is not a big fan of fast boats.
The boat takes you across the lake where you take a short hike to Lake Josephine. It kind of felt like you were hiking in the Rain Forrest or something it was so green. Emma once again not a huge fan of the backpack. We kept trying though!
At Lake Josephine you got on another "slow boat" across the lake.
Emma off the boat and all ready to hike to Grinnell Lake (two miles round trip).
The kids were troopers. Henry and his cousin Gage holding hands for the first part of the hike.
We got Emma back into the backpack and she took a little nap along the way. So precious. For those of you who don't know about Emma's extremely long fingers-here is a good picture to illustrate the length. Don't mind the dirt in between the fingers!
Or the dirt on Henry's face! Wow that kid can get dirty fast. This lake was soo beautiful. The mosquito's were pretty bad, but it was still a lot of fun.
Emma enjoying the sights after her short nap.
We look a little homeless, but the background is pretty nice.
Henry in his Superman stance.
Some of the kids took off their shoes and were wading in the water. My poor nephew tripped and fell completely in! Thank goodness for a prepared mom-she had a whole new outfit for him.
Henry was pretty tired so we talked him into riding in the backpack. This bridge was kind of cool. When you walked across you couldn't stop it from swinging and bouncing. Some of the kids got pretty scared. Notice the beautiful rocks that are in the river-they were so cool there.
When we got back to the dock to wait for the ferry we got a fun surprise. This baby moose was not listening to his Mom-he kept trying to come over by all the people and would try and run around his Mom. They put on quite the show.
We were lucky to see some really cool animals.
Some of the boys (Henry, Jackson, and Addison) hanging out on the dock.
Henry loved looking in the water for fish.
Henry and Addison hanging out the boat window on the way home.
That night when we were hanging out around the campfire it started to rain a bit. My Mom was pretty excited to go and get her emergency kit poncho on. It stopped raining a few minutes later. A wasted 75 cents! That night though the wind blew hard and it rained-not the best night sleep but we stayed dry!
